How Halloween horrors help hedgehogs

CHIPPING Sodbury resident Natasha Marriott’s Halloween lights display, Creepy Hollow, is raising money to help wildlife in the area.

This year, Natasha is hoping to raise £500 for Hedgehog Rescue Chipping Sodbury, which treats, rehabilitates and releases injured, sick, and orphaned hedgehogs.

The huge display took Tash and her husband Joel three weeks to set up this year in front of their home in Frome Road, and has a new theme.

Tash said: “This year, mad scientists have taken over Creepy Hollow.

“Their leader is Baron Von Bones. As he works in his lab full of strange creatures, he goes to grab a vial of fingers within the body parts he keeps near.

“His failed creations are all around while the rest of his victims lay still in the graveyard guarded by the Plague Doctor, who keeps any poison at bay.

“Baron Von Bones has also enlisted the help of witches who brew up another batch of potion to help his vision of mass creation of a new breed of monsters to try to take over the world.”

New props include a giant kraken with tentacles emerging from the ground and a vomiting skeleton.

Tash (pictured above) said: “It’s viewable at all times but best when it’s dark.”

It is ten years since Tash first started doing a display.

This year, the lights will be on each day between 4pm-9pm until November 1, with the animatronics moving from 6pm-9pm.

Afterwards Tash will set up her Wallace & Gromit-themed Christmas display, which will start on December 6.

Donations can be made online at gofund.me/2a7184844 or via a QR code and donation bucket on Tash’s fence.
