Man charged with kidnap after woman bundled into car and assaulted

A MAN has been charged with kidnap after a woman was forced into a car, then assaulted in Yate.

Avon & Somerset police say the incident started several miles away in Cadbury Heath on Christmas Day, when a member of the public reported a woman being assaulted and forced into a red Audi A3 car in Newton Road, Cadbury Heath, shortly after 2.20pm.

Police called to the scene found the car but it was driven off “at speed” and a search of the area failed to find it.

However another call was made at 4.15pm to report a woman being assaulted in Dingley Lane near Peg Hill in Yate.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers quickly attended and a man was arrested.

“The victim received treatment at hospital and has now returned home.”

Police said 25-year-old George Taylor, of Earlstone Road in Cadbury Heath, has been charged with kidnap and breaching a non-molestation order.

He appeared at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody, to appear at Bristol Crown Court on January 19.

The woman involved in the incident has not been named by officers.

Police have asked anyone with information which could help their investigation to call them on 101 and quote incident reference number 5223 314 230.
