Body found in Yate during police search for missing man

POLICE have found a body in Yate while searching for a missing man from the town.

The discovery was made in a wooded area off Goose Green Way, it was announced this afternoon.

Police yesterday issued an appeal for sightings of a 47-year-old Yate man, who they named only as Robin (pictured above).

They said they were “growing increasingly concerned” for him after he went missing from his home in the early hours of last Tuesday, on foot and without the medication he needed.

He had last been seen walking on Westerleigh Road later that day, and residents were asked to check sheds and garages, and look at CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage

Police officers, with search and rescue volunteers, had been searching areas of the town.

Family has been informed

Today a police spokesperson said: “Sadly, officers searching for missing man Robin from Yate have found a body in a wooded area off Goose Green Way.

“His next of kin have been informed and have our sympathy.

“Officers will now continue their enquiries and prepare a file in order for the Coroner to formally identify the deceased.”

Anyone who thinks they have information that could help the investigation should call 101 and quote the incident reference number 5224 166 744.
