Boy arrested and knife found after attack in Yate puts teenager in hospital

POLICE have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after another teenager was “attacked by a number of people” in Yate.

The assault took place in Cranleigh Court at about 10.30pm yesterday.

Officers say the victim, a boy in his late teens, suffered neck and back injuries in the incident.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesperson said: “The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening but the boy remains in hospital receiving treatment.

“Specialist crime scene investigators have examined the area and a knife has been recovered from the scene.

“Officers are carrying out house to house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage as part of our investigation while the Neighbourhood Policing Team are targeting their patrols around the Cranleigh Court area to provide reassurance to the community.”

Police have called on anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information or video footage which could help their inquiry, to call them on 101 and quote the crime reference number 5223 220 207.
